Club Ice
We’re looking for a few parents or friends to work the regular Sunday Club Ice afternoon Registration Desk. Our Club Ice skating year begins in early September and continues through March. You can choose which Sundays during the season you want to volunteer. Responsibilities will be checking in skaters and taking payments, if applicable.
Fundraisers
We’re on the lookout for enthusiastic volunteers to help with the organization, planning and executing fundraising events to help support our Club. Whether it be selling gently used skating apparel, skating equipment, candy bars, pins, or other trinkets, we need your help to make it happen. Thank you for your time and service!
Driver - Skate Sharpening
We are seeking volunteers to coordinate and transport multiple skates to out-of-town blade sharpening locations, such as Buffalo Grove, Crystal Lake, or Fox Valley rinks. Responsibilities include arranging skate pick-up, transport to the distant rink to meet sharpener, awaiting completion, and delivery back to Carlson Ice Arena, while ensuring timely and efficient service for skaters and parents.
Single event volunteer opportunities
If you’re looking to volunteer for a few hours, or for a specific show or competition event hosted by either the Rockford Skating Club or the Rockford Park District, look here for your opportunities.
Awards
As an Awards volunteer during a competition, you’ll announce the names of medalists and hand out their awards, creating unforgettable moments for our athletes.
Registration
As a registration volunteer, you’ll be the first friendly face greeting athletes, coaches, and parents at our competition. Your role is crucial in setting a positive tone and acting as an ambassador for our club. Check in skaters, coaches, and volunteers and answer any questions they may have.
Runners
Runners keep the competition moving by collecting judges’ score sheets and delivering them to Accounting. You’ll also secure signatures from the event Referee and transport results sheets to the Awards team.
Ice Monitors
Ice Monitors play a key role in ensuring that all skaters are present for practice ice or the competition and lets the announcer know if someone is missing. You’ll help get skaters on and off the ice, make sure skaters have checked in at registration, and keep track of competition times. There is a minimum age requirement for this position.
Announcer
The announcer is responsible for announcing during a competition event or during practice ice sessions. They make sure to get name pronunciations and possible participant scratches.
Music Operator
The music operator will be able to navigate the media player on a laptop during competition and practice ice, ensuring each skater’s music is prepared and ready to go!
Flower Sales
On occasion, we organize a fundraiser selling flowers for skaters during our annual competitions to help raise money for the club. Come be a part of the team that plans, buys, bunches, and creates the spectacular bouquets.
Shows
Hourly show volunteers can help with both shows hosted by the Rockford Skating Club, as well as shows hosted by the Rockford Park District. Help with tasks like decorating, costume fitting, ticket sales, skater check-ins, selling event booklets, and more! Help is also needed with lighting, sound, or photography to capture the magic of the performances.
